From Dart:
During and after college at the New York College of Ceramics at Alfred University, I worked in Mexico for American Standard. I then went into the army and was assigned to an army depot at Granite City, IL. The first day on the job, I spyed a young lady across the room The army assigned her to me and we married on April 1, 1966. We have two daughters who live within a mile of us, and one grandson, born on his mother's birthday, May 16, 2009.
After the army, we moved to FL where I worked in a clay mine, then to NJ, NY and PA, where I worked for the Carborundum Co, then to Cleveland, where I edited a trade magzine. We then moved to Brattleboro, VT, and bought a country store. I became a real estate appraiser and still am, with four employees. I also invested in apartment houses so have to keep appraising to support tenants who don't pay. Tom Scala, formerly from New Hartford, is my partner in several of the buildings.
I have been very active on community boards, e.g. school board, Rotary, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, etc. and church. I am presently Pres. of a youth theater and on three other boards. I just got off the town Planning Commission.
Joy and I have travelled to a number of countries and make a couple of vacation trips a year to Mexico.
As a member of the Rotary Club, I started a foundation to give scholarships to graduating high school students (8 @ $3,000 a year), and, with three other guys started Pure Water for the World, a 501C3 non-profit which has given the means to 200,000 to have potable water.
Probably will never retire.
